Volunteer Work in Ecuador: Protection of Marine Life
Program VL/EC-FF103
During this volunteer project in Ecuador, you will commit to help with the preservation of the marine biodiversity in the Pacific Ocean. Together with other volunteers from all around the world, you will take part in tasks that aim to protect unique species along the Ecuadorian Coast. In this region, the fragile ecosystem is threatened by massive deep-sea fishing, pollution of the waters, and other environmental problems that have catastrophic consequences for marine life. In response to this need, numerous biologists established this volunteer project about 15 years ago. Through this program, scientists aim to learn more about the local species by studying the native plants and animals along the Ecuadorian coast. Ideally, they want to make specific implementations that improve the protection of these species and counteract the negative environmental effects in the area. This project is open to people from all over the world who want to make a positive impact by assisting with the conservation efforts of on-site marine life.

Volunteer Work in Ecuador: Volunteer Work with Children in the Could Forest
Program VL/EC-TS111
This volunteer project takes place in an isolated community located in the cloud forest of Ecuador. Here, locals will welcome you with open arms and their enthusiasm for the nature that surrounds them. As a volunteer, you will work directly with locals who grew up in this unique region, which allows you to experience Ecuador in one of the most authentic ways possible. You will volunteer at a daycare center where you will supervise babies and children between the ages of 1 and 6. The educators are always thankful for any extra support because it allows the children to be even better cared for. There are no special skills or experience needed for this volunteer project, however, you should like to work with children and be a patient, tolerant, and responsible person.

Volunteer Work in Ecuador: Animal Rescue Center in the Amazon Region
Program VL/EC-FF101
This volunteer program is located in a unique and breathtaking region of Ecuador, where volunteers help at a rescue center for exotic animals. Some of the animals have been confiscated by customs because they were illegally traded or kept in private homes, while others were found near villages. Unfortunately, many of the animals that come to the center have been injured or abused, and need both love and attention to regain their strength. It would be ideal if the center could rehabilitate the animals enough to release them back into their natural habitat, however this seldom occurs. Your service at this rescue center is a significant step towards increasing the protection of Ecuador’s wildlife.

Volunteer Work in Ecuador: Equine Therapy for Disabled Children
Program VL/EC-TS100
As a volunteer at this equine center in Ecuador, you will learn about the unique and effective rehabilitation method involving horses that helps people with mental and/or physical disabilities. While on the back of a horse, the movement makes patients relax, which reduces both physical and mental anxieties. This therapy increases the well-being of the patient as it allows them to temporarily forget about any pain or depression they may have. In addition to improving the emotional wellbeing of patients, the therapy also helps them physically by improving their coordination, orientation, and balance. Aside from equine therapy, the center also offers alternative therapy methods, such as theater, music, and art. To finance the center’s work, the facility also offers riding classes to children from surrounding neighborhoods.
