Volunteer Work on a Horse Farm
Program VL/PE-CP100
During your volunteer project on the horse ranch in Peru, you will get to know the region that has the biggest dry forest in the world. This region is strongly influenced by small farm towns, where the majority of the population makes their living from working on their cotton, rice, and sugarcane plantations. The region has a lot of history, as it has been populated for thousands of years. It contains impressing archeological sites that belonged to the Incas as well as wonderful ruins and mud brick pyramids from the Sican culture.
Taking part in a volunteer program on a horse ranch allows you to organize and carry out horseback riding excursions for day tourists and show them ancient cultural sites. Volunteers who are not yet completely comfortable on the saddle can still volunteer on the farm and help out with the horses, as Peruvian Paso horses are known for being calm and pleasant. It is truly an amazing adventure to explore the different parts of the forest by horseback where you can find grasslands, a desert with ancient trees, cacti, and exotic wildlife.
Volunteers not only assist with excursions, but they also actively take part in the work and variety of daily tasks on the farm. The tasks include chores all around the farm and in the stables, as well as the tending to and taking care of the animals. The beautiful region and variety of work tasks ensures an exciting experience abroad for volunteers.
